Big Bend National Park — Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive

About this Route

A 30-mile paved road inside Big Bend National Park skirting the western slopes of the Chisos Mountains before descending to the Rio Grande at Castolon and terminating at the mouth of Santa Elena Canyon. The route passes volcanic rock formations, sweeping desert overlooks at Sotol Vista, and ends at one of the most dramatic canyon trailheads in the American Southwest. Best ridden October through April to avoid summer heat.
